Packaging gone wild

You know I love safe packaging, but... but...

I'm updating to Kubuntu 16.04 LTS right now.

Yay, I've been waiting for this. 

I felt Kubuntu 15.10 is a bit unstable. So I have high hopes for the new LTS release. I'm doing a direct upgrade.

Even though I'm using i3 on Kubuntu, I welcome improvements in stability for QT related software.

Another standard font. Looks very nice together with i3.

Update 2016/04/22: Upgrade successful. Working fine together with i3. The new default fonts and sizes are great.

Update: 2016/04/24: Speed is decent. On Chrome I can feels some very minor hiccups on scrolling webpages sometimes. Have to determine what's the reason for that, but it is almost not recognizable. No worries. Added Screenshot.

The Fog... it's time!

Every year there is a special day in April.

And so from 21st to 22nd on midnight "The Fog" will crawl to my TV. With the DVD I'll have to start the movie exactly at 23:56:56 and then in the movie at exactly 0:00 it's synced with the first church bell ring on midnight.

I'll sue my fortune cookie

I just ate a fortune cookie, and inside it tells me " You are a talented storyteller". What?

Now I feel offended.

I just might ask Erdoğan how to sue the crap out of this cookie :P

Or I could just ask Gollum to get me to Mount Doom and burn this piece of blasphemy paper ;). Might be a better option before that fortune cookie manufacturer gets too famous :D.

EFF thinks differently about WhatsApp than Threema

Who thought that?
The EFF sees no advantage in key security elements for Threema according to this table.

Ya well, what I said before. After WhatsApp tighten security with end to end encryption by default, there seems to be only one reason for the rant from Threema against WhatsApp. Their business model just got busted. There is no advantage of Threema left, while WhatsApp has millions and millions users. Chances are people are now not even bothering anymore for paying to Threema when all of their contacts already use WhatsApp. Well most of them didn't care before anyway. And now they all use end 2 end encryption. That makes it a good thing.

I'll guess that's not the last milligram caffeine for today O.o., but at the moment I don't need more. I'm wide awake after reading a pathetic statement from Threema about WhatsApp encryption by showing what DOESN'T work right on Threema and saying they respect "metadata".
I don't know where to start. First there are always metadata, secondly Threema is, like WhatsApp, not open source, so we only have their word. And that's not good enough when trying to show the advantages about the competition. and third and most important, a lot of features they say produly "not with us" are basic messenger features. I wouldn't use it without that ability to see if someone is online, or see when they received a message.
I have important stuff to talk about with my friends. And it is essential to know if they can, and when they received a message. And I need to see when they are online.
Even with the free and opensource XMPP + OTR you can see this. It's that important. Much more important than the weak try to badmouth the competition when the own "security model" is out of business.
